I'm a little sad that it's a year to the day since anyone posted in this thread. For anyone wandering by to see if there's yet life, there might be a few last kicks to come in the book thread over the next few weeks. And I can be reached at taelac AT gmail DOT com, for anyone who wants to keep in touch and isn't already connected elsewhere.
Hope everyone's holidays are filled with joy. And pie. Because pie is awesome.

I've set a reminder to check this board for traffic on the first of each month for 2017. After that will depend on what sort of traffic it sees this year.

Getting used to life as a Proper Adult. Full time job, no social life, too tired to do much in my free time. How're you?

Sounds all too familiar. My kid's driving now, which is a form of excitement. I'm otherwise still just plugging away, trying to hold up my little bit of the universe. What sort of job have you landed in?

Ducky, you're too young to be too tired for no social life.
Also, hey y'all. My holidays/new years etc were sadly low on pie.
I did make chocolate scones for VDay though, so that's a win.

To be fair, I'm too introverted to not be too tired for a social life. I'm working as an advisor in a call centre; it's a tedious environment where everyone likes to talk about helping customers and really only cares about you making sales, which was hideously undersold during recruitment and training. Like, we were told "it's just a case of making them aware of our products, no one expects you to sell anything" and the reality is we won't be passing probation if we don't hit our sales targets. I took the job because I can't drive and live in the suburbs so don't really have many options if I don't want to spend two hours on public transport every morning and evening, and it does pay very well for what it is. But it's terrible and I don't see myself spending the 18-24 months here I had originally planned. Also, shift patterns range from 7.45-4.45 to 11.30-8 and it literally changes every day so there's no way for me to have a consistent routine which is resulting in me being too tired too often. Some days I get home, eat, and have to go straight to bed and that's just miserable. Sorry about your lack of pie, Leif.

Ugh. Call center jobs are soul-killing. I hope you find something suitable that is less awful soon.
Also, any excuse for pie is a good excuse, but scones are good, too.

I couldn't deal with that scheduling. Even if the job is shitty, I want set hours where I can plan around. Not having a car would suck, but that's because public transportation sucks. At least here. I'd love to live somewhere where it didn't. I meant to make a pie for my birthday, but got busy. Scones are here and were easy enough to throw together before work. I made crepes for dessert too, they were a little thick, but pretty good. Next time I'll be better.

It's the first of March! If anyone stops in and wants to pick up with the book club, now that I've been advised that the spam trap is installed, you can just go register at untitled.itasca.net/ without having to wait for me to notice and send you a PM.

I'm not very good at book reviews, so I'll probably just browse and never sign up/post there, but I will say here that I recently got back into reading most nights and, after flying through a Harry Potter book (to ease myself back into it, of course), I picked up The Lion, by Nelson DeMille. I think I posted about another one of his books, The Lion's Game, a while ago. There's seven or eight books in this series and I've really enjoyed them all so far, so I'm happy to be back in the habit of reading often.

Happy first of April!
You don't have to be very good at book reviews to come hang out if you want, but it's cool if you lurk, too.
In other news, I'm moving, which is eating up my time and my brain. Spouseperson's grandmother has been moved into assisted living after she started doing things like getting locked ~inside~ her house and forgetting what state she's in, but they don't want the house sitting empty. So we've been packing up straight up 60 years' worth of tchotchkes and clothes and everything else. It's a straight-up hoard, only there are enough closets in the house to actually put it all away.
The massive closet space will be ~amazing~ once we get all of her stuff into storage and can move our stuff in. And I'm pretty stoked to have the use of a 3br house with a fenced yard for the price of utilities and keeping up with the yardwork. Now if the cable company will stop jerking us around and get us hooked up, we've managed to clear out enough space to move in and do the rest in smaller batches.

Of course the book club appears to be down at the moment, and it'll be probably Monday before anything can be done about that, since my friend who's hosting it for us is traveling this weekend.

So, I just spent an hour reading through old ROMS games, just for fun...I miss writing scenes, and playing with you guys. I was very surprised to see this forum had posts for this year! /e waves to Taelac for her September checkin. I'm playing fairly regularly on Obsidian, Aethera as always, if anyone wants to say hi. ED, I always thought of you as DD so when I saw you that day I didn't make the connection, but Hissul said you said hi I'll find you at some point!

Hi, Aethera! You might check out Storium if you're in the market for a writing game: storium.com/ I'm over there as Sorcha. I haven't logged into YPP in forever, having adopted Guild Wars 2 as my MMO these days. I'm over there as Heather Nimble, among others, but Heather's name is easiest to spell. Also at a new message board for assorted geekery, also as Sorcha: babel.radiofreetomorrow.org/Unfortunately, the book club I started seems to have stalled out, not least due to my life insisting on being a series of rolling explosions, really, but I haven't given up on it entirely, yet.

I am also on Storium, though kind of in a "Writing is hard so I don't wanna" stage atm so... ugh.
Read basically all of 13.33 (Cthulhu ROMS) yesterday and now I'd like to do something ROMSy. Not that insane, ofc, there's not a hope of getting the population for it, but if we can get 10-12 people together I have an idea...
(I dunno whether anyone actually enjoys the 6 player/1 rogue type things I was running before, is the problem. And I don't really want to get anyone's hopes up for fun given the unlikelihood of pulling even 10 people together. But I figured it was worth *asking*, at least...)
Edit: Oh, and I tried to check out Obsidian but the client didn't want to load so I uninstalled it. It'll be out on Steam on the 14th anyway so I guess I'll have a look then if the technical side will let me.
Edit again: And if anyone's on GW2 my account name there is Indaryx. I don't know if knowing that would enable you to add me as a friend if you were so inclined.

Oh my gosh! Did not realize this was still alive.
I am also on Storium, though much less active than previously. Still highly recommend. Haven't gone on YPP for ages but may try a download after the end of next week once my schedule clears out a little.
Terraria is my main gaming medium now, lol. If anyone plays that and would want to multiplayer at some point in time!
ROMS. So appealing. And yet so terrifying. I took a look back at old threads and for the life of me couldn't figure out how we ever did it.

The biggest challenge would honestly be deadlines. I think I'd have to do them 7AM/7PM BST/GMT (which is 11PM/11AM PST/PDT) because lunch time deadlines sucked and I can't stay up til 1am regularly anyway.
Edit: Actually the biggest thing is that I seem to have forgotten the password to the admin account...

Well, that's not really a problem anymore. Although the fact that I hadn't logged onto it since 2015 and thus had several registrations pending might have been more of a problem if anyone had been playing in that time.

I can co-mod! =P
Although I guess that would cut down the player pool even more.

Yeah, I was gonna say, getting to 10-12 would be hard enough without that. And 7am/pm works fine for me now, I'm not on a train until 7:40pm anymore.

Also: I have read a bunch of games and rogue forums and DTs over several hours and have enjoyed my trip down nostalgia lane. Thank you all for keeping me company during a really bad period in my life!

You guys are adorable Wrecker came and found me in game just now. Furare, tomorrow when Steam hits, come find me, I'm Aethera as always and I'll likely be on and off all day, since I work from home now and can do that. Assuming the steam install works and doesn't have fits. Sigh. I'm going to hate Steam. I would absolutely play, and the forums actually behave themselves now if we want to try it in Shore Leave. Joly, Cala, DD and Anchovygirl are all on Obsidian, the first 3 in my flag as of yesterday when I gave up on trying to be independent. I'll bet we could get them, and Tae is around here somewhere! Are you still in touch with Sear? We could also maybe find Leif, I think he pops around the forums now and then. I'd favor a simpler game, we're mostly rusty as HELL, I imagine. I've played one forum game in the last few years over with my fellow mods on Previously.tv, but they were...not up to our standards. I nailed the rogues on Day 1 but couldn't get anyone to see what I was seeing. WIFOM was pretty obvious around there ha. OK I really am going to bed now.

Well, I can do something simple; I'm not all roles and craziness. I don't mind doing it back over in SL if those forums work again and people would be happier there. We'd still need a DT, of course, for which this forum would serve very well as long as I can remember how to password-lock a board (it can't be that difficult, right?) I'm pretty bad at staying in touch with people >.> but I can email Tae if she doesn't show up before I get around to it. I poked Haz on Hangouts yesterday and he said he was interested. Maybe more so if it's on SL rather than here, I don't know. I might see how much interest there is before settling on a format. in RE: Obsidian, fingers crossed that it installs/runs! I can't play at work, but I can play during what I assume is other people's workdays Edit: I have figured out how to password-lock a board! See ROMS XIX Dead Thread under the dead threads category. Actually, you can't because (a) there's actually nothing to see there yet and (b) only I know the password.

I don't play mafia at church any more because I am either the N1 kill every time, and if I am not killed I am policy killed the next day because if I didn't die I must be mafia. True story, lol.
Sets messages me occasionally and I have Leif and Luv on FB. If we do end up doing something I could poke them.
Although man, I bet we're all rusty now =P
I also wonder how much everyone's playstyles have changed over 4 years?
