ROMS 18.0: Writing On The Wall
Basic Premise
This is in essence a Vanilla game. There will be rogues and there will be innocents. The job of the innocents is to figure out which is which. The job of the rogues is to kill the innocents without them catching on.
The Twist
Not so much a lime twist as a literary one. This is a costume game - you will play not as yourself but as a fictional character. Before the game starts you will be assigned a "flavour" role, and you must pick a (reasonably well-known) character that fits this role. The roles don't have any power other than restricting who you can choose to impersonate while attending the costume game/party.
Day/Night Cycle:
Voting:
Lynching:
Simple majority rules; if 50%+1 of living players have voted for one person, that person will be lynched. Otherwise no one will be lynched. Lynching is status-revealing. The moderator will reveal on lynch confirmation whether the target was innocent or rogue.
Costume Party Rules/Guidelines:
Numbers:
Because of the way the maths works out, I will be taking signups for either 6-8 players or 12+ players. In the former case there will be 1 rogue, and in the latter there will be 2 or maybe even 3.
I am working on the list of categories; for now I just want to know if you want to play or not. The game should start within the next week providing enough people sign up.

Day/Night Cycle:
- 72 Hour Day / 18 Hour Night.
- Deadline times: 1:30am, 7:30am, 1:30pm and 7:30pm BST - or 5:30pm, 11:30pm, 5:30am and 11:30am PDT.
- Let me know if you have an opinion on this Cycle because I am open to suggestions.
- Unless anyone is really upset by the idea, there will be Night posting.
Voting:
- Bold your votes. I will almost certainly be covering some of these deadlines from a phone and my phone browser doesn't have Ctrl+F. So please bold them and if possible set on a fresh line, like so:
Vote: Furare - It is considered courteous to retract your vote (Unvote: Furare) before changing it. However, this is not absolutely required.
- Deadlines may be delayed by up to 15 minutes if you leave all your voting to the last possible second.
- Each player will be given a "flavour role" or broad character category. Once you have been assigned a category, you must come up with a fictional character to play who fits within this category.
- Your character must be reasonably well-known, so that the other players at least have a chance to guess who you are and find your roleplay amusing. There is no prize for the most obscure costume.
- All of your posts in the game should be "in character" unless otherwise stated. There aren't any sanctions for not playing in character - if you don't mind being the Mayor of No-Funnington, that is.
- If you are killed in any way, you may write a death scene in character where you reveal who you were. (Note: This means your roleplay character, not your alignment.)
- Flavour roles are not alignment-specific. Guessing who someone is and which category they got will tell you nothing about whether they are an innocent or a rogue.
