I could certainly see about making some sort of vanilla/near-vanilla Costume Party-esque game. That could even tie in with what DD was saying earlier about roleplaying as a fictional character - like, you get given an archetype to play, but you can pick a specific character on your own (if you want to). So if you get given "Private Detective" you could be Hercule Poirot or Sherlock Holmes or Sam Spade or whoever takes your fancy. Oh hell, I might even be interested for this, but if my work doesn't slow down with hours and I need to cut down on something else too. ~ Also Marinated I'm going to throw you a PM in a few hours in regards to what you said above, but I read something on the forums that if you went to Mith directly they might waive the 3 month experience if you qualify in modding on a similar "mafia" site.

I would play in a costume party game. I'd be okay with trying to play it on the YPP forums, but I don't know how well it will work. OOO doesn't seem very interested in maintaining those these last couple of years.
Someone poke me if a game gets started?

The waiver doesn't apply to the three months, only to the need to mod a open or mini-normal before doing a theme or large, and it's said to be very rare that it's given.

Something I was running past Leif but I guess should probably be an open question: - Would you prefer to come up with your own "costume" or be randomly assigned one? Or pick one off a pre-generated list? - Would you prefer to know what everyone's "costume" is before the game, or would it be more fun to try to figure out what they are while the game is in process? Let me know! I'm trying to figure out how I (or whoever chooses to mod this if y'all would rather someone else got a turn) can make everyone happy.

I think the pre-generated list would be good as it gives some choice but also means there won't be anything too obscure. Especially if we're going to be guessing them which would be fun.

I think a list, either to pick from or to be assigned. And guessing is more fun.

I'd say assigned (because if we pick then there will probably be issues with people picking the same "costume", no?), but with a list of all the possibilities posted maybe? And guessing!

Do you read it as are-oh-em-ess in your head? Cause I totally read it phonetically.

Oh, because I used 'an' instead of 'a'? I read it are-oh-emm-ess, I always have, and it's always tickled me because I think of ROUS-s every time.
Love. That. Book. The movie is pretty rad, too.
(Sorry if 80's and 90's slang starts cropping up. Since we killed our cable sub and the kids have discovered that they enjoy Netflix so much more than that anyways, they've found such gems as the original GI Joe and other cartoons from my childhood. I kinda get nostalgic and watch with them)

Yes? What's wrong with that? It's not like I say "lol" out loud in conversation instead of actually laughing. (I have known people who did this.)
I also say ROMS like it's a word. I do that with most acronyms, unless it's impossible to do so.

Yup, pretty much. If it's too weird to pronounce as a word, I'll just use the actual phrase. Like WTF, GTFO, etc.

In Bunnyland, ROMS rhymes with "Bombs"
Also, LOL rhymes with "bowl" and ROFL rhymes with "waffle". Life's too short to spell out acronyms.

I used to pronounce LOL rhyming with roll but apparently the "correct" pronunciation of it is the same as the word loll. ROFL is definitely waffle with an r, and for me at least LMAO is chairman Mao with an L. Like LaMichael, except LaMao, and the o is slightly more enunciated. Besides that, though, most internet acronyms are replaced by the actual phrase. Although, interestingly, tl;dr and brb I say as the letters.

brb I can read either way since it's the same amount of effort required. My favourite acronym is botrk, meaning Blade of the Ruined King from LoL. One of the guys I watch play pronounces it "boh-tork" so I picked that up. tl;dr I don't even seem to process as a sound, I just sort of see it and register its meaning without giving it a pronunciation.

I mean in your head, I'm not talking reading out loud. In your head, where it's no time or effort, do you really think, oh, I'm going to play ROMS, or do you think, rogue OM squad, or arr-oh-emm-ess? I guess I'm just a freak I don't say lol out loud either, I laugh, so now I'm confused as to what exactly we're talking about.

I don't know how other people think, but for me it's like talking to myself internally. So I think words/phrases/acronyms exactly the same as I would say them out loud. So "ROMS" is treated the same way in thought as in conversation, as a four letter word. (But not that sort of four letter word.) Given the existence of the phrase "internal monologue" I imagine that my thought processes are pretty normal. Which is an odd thought. With what I said about "lol" I just meant that when I sound it out in my head it is as a word and not a TLA. I don't think I've ever said it out loud except when reading out text messages/IMs. As an aside, the existence of this conversation proves that it has been too long since the last ROMS game for all of you. Anyone want me to rectify this?
