Ten times better than normal cheesecake. Either I have no idea what you mean by normal cheesecake or baked cheesecake. Isn't normal cheesecake baked?

Furare won't make Seastar cheesecake because Furare doesn't have a clue how to make cheesecake. Furare can, however, make damn good sponge cake, so that's what you're getting. Riss: We weren't going to do proxies for the game but I'll have to discuss it with Wrecker. I'm considering that we might want to go ahead with the game if we make it to 18, mostly on the grounds that 11.75 ran with 18 people and that seemed to go okay. Again, I need to discuss it with Wrecker, so that's more a "This is what Furare is thinking now" update than anything official. Anyway. Cheesecake.

Baked cheesecakes have a thicker texture. My curiosity stems from the fact that I've only ever made a baked cheesecake, and as such am pretty sure that's "normal". It made me wonder if there was some other baked cheesecake beyond my usual normal.

Crush. Add a bit of sugar. Add melted butter until it's somewhat able to be pressed into the side of a pan, but not wet. That's the hard part. The rest is pretty much eggs and cream cheese and an oven for awhile. Bain marie if you don't want cracks, but it's effort and they still taste good with cracks, so forget it if you want.

I'm with Leif...the only not-baked cheesecake I've ever had was a Jello No-bake thing that I made into tiny little mini cupcake things that were adorable but that I wouldn't classify as cheesecake

I can't speak on the baking part, cause I've never made any, but it was always my understanding that it was like Jello in that you made it and put it to set in the fridge. In my mind, a good creamy cheesecake can't possibly have started life in an oven. If it has been, I have been deceived my whole life O.o

Yeah I made those no-bake cheesecakes before because I was going to a party so my mom and I made it for a dessert. Leif, usually when the cheesecakes gets cracks in it my mom will decorate it with strawberries and chocolate syrup. It's so pretty because it's tempting to try, but I have to hold back and not eat it. I think she's made one cheesecake that hasn't cracked and she doesn't know how to stop it from cracking. >.>

I make no-bake cheesecake quite often! With a biscuit base. It's not as creamy or rich as baked cheesecake, but I can classify it as cheesecake because it's got a base of philadelphia cream cheese And you can flavour them. I tend towards mango but orange isnt too bad.

There is baked cheesecake (Not a fan) and then there is "French" cheesecake, which isn't baked. Can't eat baked ones, and french cheesecake has no eggs so it's easier to fit on the table full of "Allergy free" foods.
Besides. Toblerone cheesecake wouldn't taste right if it was baked.

Screw dieting, I'm going to McDonalds. I'm still not sure this game is actually going to run, but this is the tastiest signup thread I've ever seen, lol.

Omg. I suppose I shall sign up as wellsies. I was bored the other day and starting ending words with "sies", the next day a crewbie started doing it too, now most of my crew is slowly being driven insane by it and it's all your fault sets!!! When I started doing it they all thought i was drunk again :/ And by again I mean they've thought I was drunk or something before, when all I had been drinking was water. Apparently, when I use the word love in a sentence it doesn't seem right, so if I start giving a list of things I love, I must be drunk.

Water bath, just like other custards. Taking custard as dairy+egg, that's what you're looking at with a cheesecake. The hard part comes that springform pans aren't generally waterproof.

Generally if you wrap the bottom of the springform in foil, getting it about halfway up the sides, you do ok. Often the more annoying thing is finding something to use for the waterbath. Last time I did one, we found a sterno pan and bent the sides, ha. Hadn't planned on making a cheesecake.

We could talk about how raw carrots are 100 times nicer than cooked carrots? I'd argue that almost all conventional vegetables are tastier raw (non-conventional would be including, like, bok choy, which is better cooked).

I would have to agree, to both Riku and Twopatch. Also, pears are an excellent post-run food

I agree, except carrots more so because I can't stand the taste at all when they've been cooked.

For me, it's more of a texture thing. I can't stand soggy vegetables.

That comes into it too, but taste is more important to me. Mum's cauliflower is nothing but bland mush, it's horrible.
Raw with hummus <3
