Hey guys, roleclaim time.
I am a PASSENGER PIGEON, and I may request a message from a player of my choice and deliver that message to a player of their choice, but I cannot read the messages.
On a serious note, this is a very small game, and in all likelihood, there will not be a huge quantity of posts, and often when you come back to check the thread, not any. This means it's even more imperative that we all get our thoughts out as soon as possible -- we all have different schedules and time zones, so it may be that when you come back to check the thread there haven't been any new posts since the last time you did. Don't let that discourage you from posting if you have time to do so and haven't said everything there is to be said already.
Also, food for thought: Two days of lynch and ban without catching a rogue puts us down to 2 people, which would end the game. I personally don't think the benefit of stimulating discussion and the leaving of a paper trail (as well as 1 extra person in terms of voting) that would come with a lynch Day 1 outweighs the benefit of an extra Day. Also, I doubt 3 of us would really come to an agreement on who to lynch, and it would most likely end up being a lynch for the sake of lynching, which I'm not a fan of. I know that the discussion of lynch/abstain has become quite tiresome, but I think this is a unique enough case that it merits new discussion.

Methinks I espy a fake claim, as passenger pigeons are long gone and were never carrier pigeons. Maybe a cat in disguise?
I don't think there's much point in not attempting to get a Day one lynch as it's only the threat of a lynch that will help us find the cat. A better idea would be to have a double-length Day to give people a chance to get reads on each other, or at least extend the deadline to maybe 48 hours after all, or most, have checked in.

The first Day can be double length if no one has any objection to this.

For the record I won't be around tomorrow (2nd) I am having a procedure done at hospital the requires conscious sedation. Last time I had this it took me hours to shake the tiredness off.

Hello! I have no problem with the Day as it is, or an extended Day, either way, but I disagree with Riku.
If we just went, "oh, ok, we won't lynch toDay", then we stall out, especially if we decide that NOW. It takes away the urgency, and players become complacent I think, when a No Lynch is decided like this. It also takes the pressue off of the Cat, and the pressure is what we need.

That's certainly a fair point, but is the pressure worth losing a full Day?
If we have an extended Day 1, that solves most of the issues (plus the Cat doesn't get the free ban that would come with a no-lynch Day 1), so I would be in favor of that.
Huh. I always thought they were the same thing. Learn something new every day, I guess.

That's certainly a fair point, but is the pressure worth losing a full Day? It's using a full Day, not losing one, so yes, it is worth it. But why do you think it isn't? Seems to me that that the only one of us that would benefit from lack of pressure is the cat.

...What?
If we don't miss a lynch, the game will be over in at most 2 Days. If we miss a lynch, that number would be extended to 3 Days. It is most definitely losing a Day.

Is it not only losing a Day for the Cat whereas the Pigeons gain a Day?
See, I totally remembered about this game.

If the lynch happens each Day, the Cat can win after 2 Days. If the lynch is missed, the Cat cannot win until after 3 Days. I don't understand why this is debatable; it is a fact, there is no question about it. The debatable part is weighing that against the benefits in terms of momentum, pressure, and discussion gained from a lynch Day 1, as well as having one extra Pigeon that can vote on lynch Days.
However, that's pretty much irrelevant if we decide to extend Day 1, because that has just about all the benefits of missing Day 1 lynch without most of the negative effects.

My point was, when we decide early on in the Day that we shouldn't lynch, we tend to get lazy. If we get lazy, it's easier on the Cat. In other words, while a No Lynch argument when it's 5:1 is a valid point of discussion, I do not think it should a decision made right out of the gate.
I agree with Marinated that only the Cat would benefit from the lack of pressure of lazy townies, but I do not think that a Rogue Riku would suggest, straight away, that we should not lynch. Just my impression of him. It's too sloppy.

Are we going back to another version of the too bold argument? I mean, Riku as a team rogue might be different than Riku as a single rogue but you don't think he'd see the advantage in doing something like this as a Cat to start the game? Rogue and Cat are intercahngeable and I think Cat will take a bit to get used to.
PROBABLY BECAUSE I DON'T CONSIDER CATS EVIL MADAME FURARE. THE PIGEONS THAT TAKE CRAPS ON OUR HEADS ARE MOAR EVIL.
I agree a day extension is pigeon favoured. I think on basis of what I think is fair, I'd rather not. If I'm a pigeon I'm getting an unfair advantage, if I'm the cat I'm getting an unfair disadvantage. While as a Cat it would give me more time to blend, it means more time for the pigeons to feel each other out. As a pigeon, a lame advantage. My stance on it will be similar to the PM sharing last game, I don't really like it but if it goes into effect I'll try to make the most of it for my alignment.

I don't get that argument though, Joly/Marinated. Yes, it's true, only a Cat would benefit from a lack of pressure on said Cat. However, only a Cat would benefit from having 2 Days instead of 3. It works both ways. You need to consider both sides. I could just as easily ask why you think that it's a good idea to let the Cat end the game in only 2 Days, when having 1 less Day would only benefit the Cat. And asking that without looking at the other side of the scale is just as pointless.
To be clear, I agree with you about not making a solid decision at the beginning of the day. I think we've moved beyond that as a general ROMSing community. I was saying that I was much more hesitant to lynch in this case, but not saying that we should rule it out as an option entirely.

I think it may be better not to extend the Day; it's supposed to be a speed game and changing the Day length after the game starts may be a bit of a bait-and-switch. After a bird (possibly a pigeon) crapped on my newly washed jeans as they hung out to dry yesterday, I may agree with Sets about the evilness of pigeons.

Well, Riku, I think that deep down, something inside me objects to the assumption that if it gets down to 2:1, the town loses.
I think that the smaller the field gets, the riskier it is for the rogue, the easier it is for the town, and the more the rogue has to finagle. To me, this is similar to saying that at close to LYLO we shouldn't lynch, just in case we're wrong.
Also, if we don't lynch toDay, the rogue bans, we lynch toMorrow, the rogue bans, it's just basically extending Day 1. We learn very little, and we're still at the same situation.
Sets, I'm not sure I see any advantage for a Cat to do that, but you look at things differently than I do. While a Cat would benefit from a lack of pressure Day 1, they'd have to deal with 2 bans and the info revealed from that, leaving more of a trail at LYLO than being able to end the game with a ban.
Which actually makes part of the argument for not lynching toDay. With Cala away for the day (hope it all goes well, dear), getting 4 votes all on the same person might not be as easy as it sounds.

Yes Sets pidgeons are evil I call them flying rats because they are a pest full of diseases and had one pooping on my head once Now on a game related note, we need to play and we need to play as a team. There is one cat amongst 5 pidgeons, if the pidgeons dont work together the cat may escape.

Sorry I'm late. Ironically enough, I was voting. Looks like no votes, so no lynch. It's night time, do whatever you want except vote. One of you needs to send me a PM before 11pm Pacific. You know who you are.

I should continue to play this game with having 0 idea when deadlines are. Woo!
I'll probably vote in my first post in the Day, primarily based upon who is banned.

Okay, Day 2. Cala is banned. The next lynch deadline is 11pm Pacific on Saturday 4th May. You need 3 votes to get a lynch.

I was talking about losing the value of the first Day's discussion by deciding not to lynch. I would describe what you're talking about as just not gaining an extra Day, rather than actually losing one. Vote: SetsusaSecond guess would be Riku at the moment. Currently thinking that Jolyma and Yasmin are pigeons.

If you had to dib? Is that auto-correct booching something, because I've never heard that phrase before?
I think that Riku is a Pigeon, based on his defense of his stance of not lynching. It has nothing to do with a Too Bold argument either, Sets. It's just that I don't believe that Riku is the kind of person to pull that as a stunt, just to give himself a disadvantage in the long run, and forcing 2 bans before LYLO is, in my opinion, a huge disadvantage to the Cat. If it was a blod move that gives him an advantage, I wouldn't put it past him.
I think that Marinated's protest was genuine, and at the moment, I am leaning Pigeon on her.
Leaving me with Sets and Yasmi to think about.

From a strategical point of view you wouldn't try to set up a 2vYou scenario that seems like the bad guy (you) would have the disadvantage, but gives you the ability to point to "I wanted this why would I set myself up like this"?

Sets, no, because I don't think anyone would fall for 'but I wouldn't do this if I'm the bad guy!' anymore. Also, timing. I think if he was the Cat going for that scenario, it would not have been right out of the gate, I think he would have waited to see where things were heading before making the suggestion.
It just doesn't feel like a rogue ploy I guess, it seems truly genuine, and I think I'm trying to explain to you why my instincts are saying he's a Pigeon.
Time to get the kiddos.

My thoughts: - If Sets were the Cat and had already said that he would vote mostly based on the ban, why (excluding JMT reasons) would he ban someone who had zero content posts? Of course, he voted someone anyway, but if he were the Cat, he got rid of a potential justification.
- The way Marinated went about her points made me uneasy. Gut is suspicious, and I've learned that gut is important in small, quick games.
- Yasmi feels somewhat detached from the game, in a way that I wouldn't expect she would be as a rogue.
Vote: MarinatedNear the middle but slightly towards Cat on Joly, leaning slightly towards pigeon on Yasmi, and leaning towards pigeon slightly more than slightly on Sets.
