She frowned at the greybeard in the pointed hat. "Wizards and cats," she said to the room at large, "can never simply admit to a mistake, but must insist that they have been unmannerly to purposes no one else could possibly fathom."
"And speaking of cats," she thought, "we appear to have added to our boot-wearing cat, one stick-wielding baboon."
At least everyone had finally arrived, though she politely avoided looking too closely at the latest arrival, who seemed to have been robbed of all decent covering. That would certainly explain the delay. The poor thing looked to be working on quite the headache, too. Her sympathy was brought up short by distrust, though, and she left it to the hostess to see to the guest's needs. The hostess reminded her altogether too much of the fairie, always seeing to their own designs, and enjoying toying with humans far too much.
She had not yet seen anything that seemed to be much of a threat, and she wished Danielle were here to help her organize what little information there was. Her friend had always been insightful and clever.

Of course an alter ego is trouble, that's why Lilly had to be let in on the secret. And Oliver. It ain't easy being a pop star in secret. But it's not the kind of trouble that's creepin' around here. It seems you remind me of someone I once met by the name of Stewart, Miley Stewart I believe it was... but I could be mistaken. * he glanced at his notebook - it looked like it was going to take some time to get a story out of all this - his editor wasn't going to be too happy with him but it couldn't be helped *

Okay, so... two votes placed means no lynch today.
It is now Night; you may post but not vote. Day 2 will begin at 11:30pm PDT tonight, or 7:30am BST on September 23rd. (i.e. in 18 hours time)

I bring a message from the rogues.
So yeah, Setsusa is banned. There are 11 players remaining, you need 6 votes to get a lynch. Your next deadline is 11:30pm PDT on September 25th (or 7:30am BST on September 26th).

My good sirs and madams,
Why do you tarry in your bedchambers on this beautiful morning? Please, do rouse yourselves and make ready for the day's activities. There is much planned! However, I must regretfully inform you of some unpleasant business - being that Lord Setsusa has left us during the night. Whether this is because he has visited too often and has overstayed his welcome, or that someone considers him a threat, I am unsure.
Is the hesitation to mingle due to some of your needs that we have overlooked? If so, please do inform my master and we will gladly make arrangements.
[Where is everyone? We had a really quiet first Day and Night. Gotta get moving, guys =P With regards to Sets' ban, I was actually thinking through a list of people that would find him enough of a threat to ban him on Night 1. I'm left with Riku, Tae, Joly, Luv, and Leif. Then again, I considered and it might be just because he hasn't been banned early recently (or at all).
Please post, guys. Also can you guys use names when refering to each other? I have only vague ideas who is who and things like 'the greybeard in the pointed hat' are likely going to confuse me at some point in time where it's important. Thanks =P]
Vote: Riku

Oh! hi there! * he stops, puts down his notebook, cleans his glasses, and picks up the notebook again * I've been busy searching for anything that might explain the missing gentleman's early departure, but apart from an unusually strong smell of lime in the glass he was using last night I've found nothing. My notes from yesterday's conversations are not much help either but I did find myself looking twice at this snippet: Now, to the business at hand. When I suspect a pretender, I will have no qualms with sending him or her to the gallows. Yet I am no stranger to the pain of being hunted without just cause. Perhaps it is because I am dazzled by the costumes at our little masquerade, but I am not yet ready to cast a vote. The votes so far appear to be contrived either to gauge reactions (a practice to which I do not subscribe) or as mere monkeyshines. Is the gentleman in hose trying to subtly dissuade us from looking too closely at him? It's weak, I know, but the most I've got so far. Vote: Bunnylaroo

"Clearly," she said, "'the greybeard in the pointed hat' refers to yon wizard, Gandalf, just as 'the talking cat' refers to yourself, the Puss-in-boots, and 'the melancholy golem' is Marvin, improbably an android, but no more improbable than a 'stick-wielding baboon' who must be Rafiki. Aside from those and 'the young singer' who has already been identified as one Miley Stewart, I do not believe I have caught any other names."
"As for the sudden departure of the one called Setsusa, I assumed it was just that he had survived a number of first nights, though I cannot say where I might have gotten that notion." She frowned, not altogether comfortable with feelings of déjà vu--it usually meant that evil magic was afoot.
What was it Snow had said about illusions? That they lay over the front of the mind? Yes, and sometimes the back of the mind could sneak through when you weren't looking. Someone, or some thing, had locked away her memories. Or perhaps she wasn't herself. Well, that didn't bear thinking. She would have to rely on her instincts, to give the back of her mind the chance to help her through a story of someone else's writing. But most of her instincts ran to fighting, and how could she fight an enemy she could not see? Even the Lady of the Red Hood had not proved so elusive.
She looked down at her hand where the polished silver snowflake had stopped its periodic spinning and tucked it back where it belonged. This would not be solved with sharp blades.

Warmed once more by the morning light, With a hi-diddle hey-diddle ho, He heaves a sigh at the posts so slight, And pensively leans on his bow.
I must add my own voice to the mewing cry of Booted Wrecker and bemoan the lack of conversation amongst our band. I am fully aware that I myself am guilty of reticence, but I my costume is more unwieldy than I anticipated, and I find that it inhibits my ability to speak my mind. Perhaps I am not alone in this difficulty. Furthermore, I seem to have caught a chill from exposure to the cool forest air (or from proximity to the Blue-bottomed-Crazymg, who is known to carry a most deplorable ROMS plague) which has confined me to my couch of late.
But I shall rally! I wonder Wrecker-in-Boots, if you would satisfy my curiosity and inform us how you came upon your list of those who would find the fallen Setsusa a threat. I presume this list is not based on his activity at the present time, as he only spoke once.

Well, I reckon a big ol' howdy is due to all ya cowpokes. I see I sure am the last one to get here, but those twisters don't always go right where they be looking like they means to go. Sometimes it's all ya can do just to hold on and steering is right out of the question! Still, there ain't nothin' like that wind in yer face and life ifs short enough about worrying about bein' on time, I figure.
Now, I find I want somethin' to go catch my eye and that thing is going to be those folks goin' round and just being all around bad guys. And I know somethin' about spotting bad guys for sure. It's those folks that ain't straight shooting, you know, the ones acting all like they got somethin' to hide. They're real worried bout wearing their heart on their sleeve, you know, cause well that's where you might catch em.
So that fellow Riku, he done gone caught my eye. I figure ya can't go round talkin bout how ya want to string up some folks and then don't go saying how that should be done. Sure, it's right true to think that the townfolk won't have no heart for it, but if ya think something's right, well, sometimes ya just gotta step up and lead.

Blast! While I waited for Alan to compose his cursed morning ballad, it appears more guests arrived.
Marinated, wearer-of-hat, I am openly, not subtly, attempting to remain in the shadows, for the Sheriff, while incompetent, is tireless in his efforts to bring me to "justice". For all I know, you may be one of his agents. It comes with the costume.
[OOC: I second Wrecker's request for player names (or at least modified versions of them, LOL). Some of us are slower at figuring out who's who, and I, for one, would like to avoid spoilers. ]

Master Bunny,
I refer you to previous games that Lord Setsusa had played with the rest of our esteemed guests. My list is drawn from those who had been involved with his nefarious schemes before, those whom he has hunted when on the side of good, and those whom he has allied with in the past. My list is also drawn from one or two other inferences that I would not prefer to reveal as it would not be to the advantage of all the guests here.
If your costume is unwieldy, mayhap you could alter it a little to lighten it? Also, my master conveys his well wishes and we do hope you will recover soon!
[The list basically comes from people Sets was a rogue with in the past, rogues that Sets has hunted as an innocent, and/or people who have been drawn into long conversations with Sets in a thread. Plus one or two other things I'd prefer not to reveal.
Try changing around some of the aspects of your RP to make it easier for you to communicate? I started posting all this stuff at the bottom because I don't want to make people read through all the fluff if they're in a rush. Also, I get what I really want to say out here so that I won't be misunderstood. =P And get well soon!]

Sorry I've gotten up so late. Late night concert, you know. Setsusa…isn't that the guy who's trying to pass as Robert Downey Jr. in that movie where he did all those slow-mo voice over things? Maybe the rogues thought he'd do too good of a job in that costume and took him out early? Thought it was pretty strange that the quietly observing lady with the silver stuff on (or in?) her hands was first tryin' to figure out stuff about our hostess. Why look at her, she's just giving us the space to figure stuff out. She doesn't seem to be up in all this bad stuff. Sir Bunny Hood sorta read my mind on asking the cat with the boots on why those people, but then I saw that they answered, so I'm good there for now. [Personally, I'm okay with costume spoilers? And thank god for Google ]

Madame Wrecker in Boots, I find your list interesting, but even moreso that you left off Bunny Hood from it. I do suppose that you maybe missed their derring-do during your absence. Have I told you how much I adore that you are here with us?
From past experience, I wonder if the banning of Setsusa is just because he'd said the least.
I apologize for sleeping late, I discovered a certain fellow in a pool in the garden last night, and I could not resist tweaking his nose. I did discover this morning I misplaced my little friend. She has a sweet purr, but take care, she may not enjoy being disturbed. I recommend you come find me if you should stumble upon her. And...if you don't mind...don't let it get out to my questers that she is...ahh...exploring. My bald friend may be upset with me.

It doesn't take a brain the size of a planet to see Sets seemed interested in Ducky. Given their past, it'd be depressingly obvious to ban Sets early. When you get right to it, it's all pretty depressing anyways.

Is the gentleman in hose trying to subtly dissuade us from looking too closely at him? It's weak, I know, but the most I've got so far. I am somewhat taken aback by this. Perhaps it's because in the days of my past that were of questionable morality, I could never imagine doing what Marinated has suggested that Bunnylaroo is doing here. Perhaps it's because in my arrogance I assume that everyone will think as I do, and thus I wonder why Marinated, someone with great experience in the field, would make an accusation that do not understand as being something suspicious. I see what Bunnylaroo has done as being something that in theory is suspicious, but in practice is not something someone with malevolent intentions would have any reason to do. In my younger days, I may have jumped on Marinated's vote here with a vote of my own, but I too am experiencing the feeling of déjà vu -- I cannot help but notice the feeling that I have done this before and been wrong in my judgement. So I will leave it at a pointed glance Marinated's way. So that fellow Riku, he done gone caught my eye. I figure ya can't go round talkin bout how ya want to string up some folks and then don't go saying how that should be done. My intention, however ill-fated, was to steer the discussion away from the (albeit necessary) introductions and towards the pressing matters at hand. I was not intending to say that "stringing up" should be done, rather that it should be our focus. --------- As for our dear departed Setsusa, I think that less can be drawn from this than in recent times, considering that there are two evil ones conspiring together, rather than one. This does not mean it is entirely without information, but it is harder to pinpoint a single person who had the desire to do this.

Well, I suppose if you want to be technical, you didn't say anything really, and therefore couldn't have said the least, but that might start us down a road in which we discuss the proverbial tree in the woods, which is wonderful for when we need to pass the time, but not so fitting for the situation in which we find ourselves. **OOC If you want to be REALLY technical, you're amusingly tipsy posts gave you 2 posts to Sets' 1, which is what I was looking at. Login names. Couldn't resist being a smartbooty, Luv, sorry, and by the way, what were you trying to say about the wine? "My apologies," she said, "I appear to be somewhat under the weather. I had gone back to my room to collect my thoughts, and I fell asleep instead of returning as I had planned. I think a cup of tea is in order." "As for my curiosity about our hostess, do you not find it even a little disturbing that she collected us all here under the auspices of protecting innocents, and then set us against each other? Something is...not right." OOC: Okay, I will bend to requests for clearer naming, though I would have preferred to keep my roleplay pristine. The bit about keeping an eye on Furare was color--my character would definitely have identified her as the greatest threat on the first day, so I let her have at. The moderator is always a rogue. I've left myself a note to come back at lunch and post more, so hopefully my desk won't eat that, but I also need to get this application finished by the end of tomorrow, so I'm a bit pulled in various directions.

Lady Joly,
I left Master Bunny off the list because of one of the two things I would prefer not to name. As of now, the list contains those who I feel were most likely to have ill intentions towards Lord Setsusa, enough to send him packing early.

Wrecker, there's a great degree of probability that Ducky should be on that list, especially given the "long conversations with Sets" criterion. You don't have a brain the size of a planet, but that should have at least been obvious.

Mister Leif,
I concur that given my list of criteria, Sir DD should be in my list. However, I might perhaps have neglected to mention that said list has gone through my own inspection and those I have named are the people that I feel are most likely to have been behind Lord Setsusa's early departure. I am well aware of those who should be on the list, but I have omited these names because I feel that they are unlikely to be culprits, despite some of the obvious connections that have been stated by others.
I have stated my suspicions. Pray tell, what about yours?

The probability was high that you'd ask, even though no one ever listens to me.
Even without an encyclopedic knowledge of the game, the connection between Ducky and Sets is obvious. As Day plunges on towards inevitable darkness, he's been conspicuously absent too.
Next, is yourself. You've appear to be logical, but my vast intellect has uncovered inconsistencies. Rules were set up to find "likely" candidates:
Yet you ignored people meeting the criterion and refuse to explain why. It's an obvious attempt to control discourse.
Intriguing, let's look again.
Have stated suspicions? Or just hedged to keep options open. The probability is the latter. Why did you vote Riku?

She had to admit that Marvin-Leif had a good point. Two of them, in fact. But she wondered about the logic that led from the lecher-Duck being a rogue that had eliminated Sherlock?-Setsusa, therefore voting Wrecker-in-Boots. It seemed a little backward to her, to vote the person suspected of defending a suspected rogue, instead of the originally suspected rogue. It was a puzzle. She hated puzzles. You couldn't solve puzzles with a blade or a ridge hand to one of the big arteries in the neck.

They are separate. Ducky could be a rogue laying low who eliminated someone with past history.
Wrecker, I read the response regarding Bunny, double checked the criteria, and it occurred to me Ducky fit at least one. And then re-examined what was going on there. I voted Wrecker of her own merits, or demerits. I'm specifically not claiming a rogue axis.

I suppose I should apologise for my extremely late appearance - at the very least, I'm sure the day was more drab without my being here. I'm a busy person; places to go, people to see. I will try to arrive earlier tomorrow and grace you with my presence.
[in seriousness, I moved into uni on Friday so I've been pretty busy getting to know people and the area - only got lost once so far!]
More on topic, I'm not really phased by wrecker's slight secrecy about her reasons for her list, as plenty of people have reasons to keep certain information close to them. You wouldn't want your enemies to know your methods, or they'll most certainly attempt to steal them. If you can force your enemies to bring a sword to a gunfight, you're at an advantage, and there's no reason to fight fair against these evils.
